I'm in the pursuit of celebrating the beauty in every fragment.

Artist Statement:

Distinctively Me

Like water that runs down the river vine,

I can only flow in one distinctive mind.

Flowing with rhythm, color and passion,

Creating moments of vivid attraction.

Attracting souls of a passionate nature,

Who yearn to experience life with rich flavor.

Experiencing the trinity of life,

Taking no part in the world's strife.

So I create

For those who want to partake,

In the essence of timeless existence,

Building connections with no human resistance.

One line,

In one time,

Living to be free.

To be distinctively me.

Celebrating the Beauty in every Fragment

Artist Bio:

As an artist, graphic designer, poet, entrepreneur, lecturer, and art advocate, my commission is to make art and advocate for the success of art. I wake up everyday in the pursuit of celebrating the beauty in every fragment. I strive to inspire others to create art and motivate them to pursue their dreams. My goal is to use art as a tool to bring people together, to heal and to celebrate the power of imagination and creativity.

Growing up in the small town of Dumas, Arkansas, I always appreciated people’s beauty. At an early age I understood that everyone possesses a unique quality that should be celebrated. Everybody is a wonderful fragment in the breathtaking mosaic of the human experience. By learning to cultivate appreciation the little things that make each person special, I create artwork to have a deep emotional connection to our imperfections.

As long as I can remember, art has always been apart of my emotional expression. Art is important to me. From Bob Ross painting happy little trees to Mark Bradford gluing paper, art is that voice that stands at the top of the mountain shouting to celebrate your uniqueness. It has given me the ability to express my feelings without having to say a word. Art allows me to be creative and find different ways to express myself, giving me a sense of purpose. It has been a powerful tool in helping me cope with difficult emotions and life experiences.

One of the guest artistic influences in my life was my high school art teacher, Ms. Dorothy Portis. She allowed me to be an artist.  The work I create is a direct response to her encouragement. From the first day in her classroom to the last day I remember ever talking to her at one of my exhibitions, I felt she always looked at me as an artist. Their is no doubt in my mind and spirit Ms. Portis guided me to celebration of the beauty in every fragment.

In moments of heightened anxiety, I yearn to use my creative voice to strengthen the fabric of society. I am inspired to create art that speaks to the pressing issues of our time, with the hope that I can help bring about meaningful change. I want to use my skills to encourage dialogue and inspire others to take action. I am determined to make a difference.

Sacrifice of Freedom

Inspired by my great grandfather's journey to emancipation, this piece intertwines themes of resilience, beauty, and the enduring struggle for freedom. Using yellow journey lines reminiscent of the yellow brick road from "The Wizard of Oz," I symbolize hope and perseverance. I invite readers to reflect on their own paths and the sacrifices that have shaped them, highlighting the transformative power of struggle and the legacy of courage and determination.
